Who is eligible for Mukti Foundation membership?

Any adult aged 18 or older, residing in the Greater Toronto Area and surrounding regions, is eligible for Mukti Foundation membership.

What types of funeral services does Mukti Foundation provide?

Mukti Foundation currently offers cremation services exclusively.

How can I become a member?

To join as a member, please complete the membership application form and submit a one-time admission fee of $100 per applicant at the time of enrollment. Payment should be made by check payable to “Mukti Foundation.” The admission fee is non-refundable. For married individuals, each spouse is considered a separate member, and both must complete individual membership forms and pay fees.

I’ve submitted my membership form and fees. When will my membership become active?

Your membership will become active 90 days from the date when membership dues are paid. To ensure the sustainability of our services, the aforementioned benefits will only be activated once a minimum of 500 members are enrolled.

How does the Mukti Foundation system operate?

When a Mukti Foundation member passes away, the Foundation will notify all members via email, text, and/or telephone, providing details of the event, including the location of the funeral home, date/time of the services, and other information provided by the deceased member’s family. The cost of funeral services will be evenly divided among all Foundation members and deducted from their accounts through a pre-authorized electronic fund transfer within 72 hours of cremation. Mukti Foundation will directly pay the funeral expenses to the crematorium and funeral home, and the deceased member’s family will not receive an invoice.

Can I choose a specific funeral home?

Family members will decide on the funeral home for the deceased member’s service. Mukti Foundation will directly cover the funeral costs as mentioned.

What happens in case of a member’s demise in India?

In the event of a member’s demise in India, with the family’s wish for the funeral to take place there, Mukti Foundation will cover the costs of the funeral home in India.

What happens if a member does not pay their dues?

Mukti Foundation will notify the member if their pre-authorized payment is declined by the bank. If the issue is not resolved, Mukti Foundation reserves the right to revoke their membership without assigning any reason whatsoever.

If a member specifies in their will to be cremated in their home country, how will Mukti Foundation assist?

Mukti Foundation will cover the cremation expenses at the local funeral home as specified in the member’s will. However, transportation, lodging, or any other associated costs for moving the deceased to their home country will not be provided. Mukti Foundation will only reimburse expenses when presented with an invoice and/or receipt.

Should I inform my friends and family about my Mukti Foundation membership?

Yes, it is advisable that your spouse, children, siblings, and/or nearest relatives are aware of your membership with Mukti Foundation to ensure they can contact Mukti Foundation in the event of a member’s death for necessary arrangements
